Experienced Hands - On Injection Molding Department Manager

Seeking hands on leader of small injection molding department. Individuals will have strong mechanical and organizational skills that will be used to keep up to 12 micro-molding machines operational. Duties will also include scheduling and inventory management, as well as support of other technical aspects of the business.

Requirements

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in all of the following areas:

• Troubleshooting and repairing complex hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic and water systems.
• Operating and repairing Injection molding presses and supporting equipment.
• Measuring equipment and tools such as calipers, micrometers, and optical comparators.
• Understanding of electronics, thermocouples, and control systems.
• PLC installation, wiring, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair infrastructure items such as air compressors, water chillers, ventilation systems, ect., both mechanically and electrically.
• Metal fabrication using manual lathes, milling machines, surface grinders and welders.
• Reading engineering drawings with an understanding of geometric tolerancing.
• Creating 3D CAD models and drawings, including assemblies and curved surfaces.

This role is a very hands-on, high visibility position with a wide range of daily duties and activities reporting directly to the company’s Chief Technical Officer. Rough split of time would be the following:

20% Daily molding department management

30% Repair, setup, and maintenance of molding equipment

10% Mold testing and prototyping assistance

10% Facility maintenance

30% Supporting company operations and engineering with various tasks.
