The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity:
Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Senior Resource Geologist at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 5X2, Monday to Friday schedule with a compress work schedule option.

Senior Resource Geologist
Location
Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.
Summary
Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, the Senior Resource Geologist is responsible for resource estimation and long-term geological modelling, monitoring and reporting of reconciliation challenges between the resource model and short-term models as well as database management.
Responsibilities
- Resource estimation and long-term geological modelling updates. (Leapfrog & Minesight),
- Short term and hybrid model improvement (macro support),
- Assist with resource utilization and risk identification in the mine plans,
- Continuous monitoring and reporting of reconciliation challenges between the resource model and short-term models, and corrective actions,
- Assist with identifying areas of low- density information and recommend drilling requirements to improve confidence in the mine plans,
- Acquire Database admin,
- Monthly QAQC of database,
- Validation of the Dispatch system,
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports as required,
- Assists with NI43-101 reporting,
- Performs any other responsibilities related to the role or as assigned by the department head.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or equivalent,
- 7-10 years of experience working as a geologist in a mining environment,
- Experience in porphyry copper-gold deposit geology would be considered an asset,
- Certified Professional Geologist designation and registered with EGBC (
