Technical Writer/Illustrator
PURPOSE/SCOPE:
This position is responsible for the development of various technical publications, utilized by our customer base and service organization, along with maintaining documentation on multiple websites for global markets. The position will work closely with the engineering, product management, and other cross-functional teams to obtain the necessary information to develop and ensure accuracy of their deliverables in a timely manner.
GENERAL RESPONISIBILITIES:
- Create and maintain instructional content such as operator manuals, installation instructions, technical service bulletins, and Quick Start Guides using text, photography, and line art.
- Identify and reuse instructional content to obtain accuracy and consistency to help reduce translation costs.
- Create and maintain illustrations and parts lists for parts manual development and life cycle.
- Dept. consultation/coordination of engineering change requests for determination if/how they affect any of our documentation, such as parts manuals, operator manuals, service manuals, and instruction bulletins, etc.
- Online parts catalog product creation and ongoing maintenance.
- Maintain department technical publication records/files/metrics.
- Participation with cross-functional project teams.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
- Minimum of two years of technical writing/illustration or service documentation experience.
- Proficient with desktop publishing software preferred; Adobe Custom Suite products including Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc. Quicksilver experience would be a plus. Willing to train.
- Ability to adapt to XML DITA authoring during/after our conversion. Willing to train.
- Proficient in Microsoft 360 preferred: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Experience with CAD/PLM Systems: SolidWorks/CAD and ECTR to extract and reuse CAD data in Arbortext IsoDraw to create 2D and 3D graphics. Willing to train.
- Proficient in photography, composition, editing, etc.
- Two-year Technical Degree in Technical Publications, computer art and animation, or related field is highly preferred but is optional.
