About the role

About Us
Evercrisp Biosciences is a well-funded Bay Area biotechnology company (moving to South San Francisco in Jan 2024) focused on the discovery and development of targeted intracellular genome-editing RNPs in multiple disease areas. Evercrisp is applying advanced computational methods, machine-learning and protein engineering to deliver novel enzymes with high cell uptake and in vivo editing.

About the Position
Evercrisp is seeking a curious and mission-driven leader with domain expertise in Bioanalytical Chemistry, specifically small molecule, oligonucleotide and protein characterization. As a Senior Scientist, the ideal candidate will leverage their mass spectrometry and other chromatography expertise to develop assays in support of Evercrisp's gene editing platform.

The Sr. Scientist will also oversee developing analytical assays to support proof of concept studies in relevant disease animal models. With a demonstrated track record in assay development that spans both research and development, creative thinking and cross-functional collaborations, the successful candidate will build and grow an Analytical Chemistry team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop high quality biochemical and analytical assays (LC/UV and LC/MS) to characterize reagents, oligonucleotides and bioconjugates and ensure the highest quality products.
  • Coordinate material generation and characterization to support in vitro and in vivo proof of concept studies and meet corporate goals.
  • Utilize LC/MS to develop biomarker assays in support of preclinical programs.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, discovery and cutting-edge research.

Job Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in nucleic acid chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry or related field with 2+ years of industry experience (not including Post Doctorate).
  • Expertise in oligonucleotide chemistry and chemical modifications
  • Extensive expertise in the development of analytical assays to support drug product characterization, including LC/UV, LC/MS, CE, and biochemical readouts.
  • Successful development of proteomic and metabolic assays is preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Top Down and Bottom Up mass spectrometry-based assays
  • Knowledge of purification with different chromatography methods including HPLC, IEX, and SEC for oligonucleotides and protein conjugations.
  • Experience with gene editing and biochemistry assays is preferred.
  • Excellent communication of complex scientific problems with demonstrated creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong scientific expertise demonstrated by patent and publication track record.
  • Ability to present strategies, data and scientific conclusions to a broad audience.
  • Ability to set goals with a clear understanding of goal priorities and their impact to research programs, as well as the organization.
