Description
Job Summary: Join our team of four accounting professionals as an Accountant 1 in a Christian work environment dedicated to serving families experiencing homelessness. In this role, you will manage state and federal funding, process donations, handle childcare accounting, and support various other financial tasks, contributing to our organization's mission.

REPORTS TO: Finance Manager
HOURS: This position is Full-time 40 hours, Non-exempt
LOCATION: Renton, WA
Rate and Benefits:
- $25-$28 per hour DOE
- Health insurance for Employee only: Medical $80/month, Dental $11/month, and Vision$1/month. Separate rates for spouses/dependents.

Our new Accountant 1 will be responsible for the following:
State and Federal Funding Management
- Manage, monitor, and follow through on all grant or contract financial requirements. Ensure compliance with contract conditions with timely and accurate submission of all finance reporting deadlines.
- Manage restricted funds release process to ensure conditions and requirements are met. Confirm eligible expenses are documented by collaborating with the Program and Childcare departments.
Donations Entry
- Process daily and monthly donations. Collaborate with the Development department to ensure donations are coded appropriately in Donor Perfect.
Children’s Village Accounting
- Research, analyze, and prepare ad hoc analyses/reports. Provide short and long-term forecasting, identify areas of concern, and recommend actions to alleviate potential adverse issues.
- Conduct Profit and Loss Write Off at the end of the year according to GAAP Standards.
- Manage CV Billing to State Funders. Collaborate with CV Directors to stay in compliance with funding regulations.
Other Accounting
- Prepares, reviews, and verifies the accuracy of journal entry accounting classifications assigned to various records prior to posting.
- Assists Finance Manager in preparing the annual budget proposal to the Leadership Team and the Board of Directors.
- Calculate year-end accruals and help prepare for annual audit. Process year-end close of general ledger accounts to reflect final audited balances, as necessary.

Requirements
Accountant 1 candidates should have the following qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in accounting Required; Bachelor’s Preferred.
- Working knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
- Direct experience with QuickBooks Pro or equivalent program.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage deadlines, manage competing priorities and maintain high standards for accuracy, productivity, and confidentiality.
- Experience in Excel, Word and data entry.
- Experience with non-profit donation system.
- Ability to reconcile accounts and transfer information.
- Able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong aptitude for numbers and spreadsheets.
- Child Care billing a plus.
- Ability to pass background check.
- Active Christian faith and the ability to sign our Statement of Faith.
- Ability to work well as part of a team or independently.
