The Role
This is a co-op opportunity based in Cambridge, MA from July 13, 2026 – December 11, 2026. Applicants must be available for the full duration of the co-op term. Occasional travel to Moderna’s Norwood, MA site will be required. Start date will be July 13, 2026.
Bioanalytical and Molecular Assay (BMA) laboratories at Moderna is seeking a motivated Co-op to support Data Quality Control activities. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in a regulated laboratory environment supporting preclinical and clinical development programs. You will work closely with QC and laboratory scientists to review bioanalytical and molecular assay data, support data integrity and compliance efforts, and contribute to initiatives that strengthen quality standards across GLP/GcLP studies. This position offers valuable exposure to quality systems, regulated data review, and cross-functional collaboration within a fast-paced biotechnology environment.
Here’s What You’ll Do
Assist in QC review of bioanalytical and molecular assay data generated through LC-MS, LBA, and molecular platforms (e.g., RT-qPCR).
Support review of raw data and source documentation, including:
ELN entries
LIMS (e.g., Watson) entries
Equipment records
Analytical batch records
Help verify data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GLP/GcLP/SOP requirements.
Support reconciliation of QC/STD runs and review of tables and summary outputs.
Assist in compiling quality metrics and tracking data trends using tools such as Excel and JMP.
Participate in review of protocols, methods, and reports to ensure documentation consistency and quality.
Support document management activities in systems such as Veeva.
Collaborate with laboratory scientists and cross-functional teams to resolve data queries.
Assist in maintaining organized QC documentation and tracking logs.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to data quality and process efficiency.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
Current student enrolled in a Bachelors or Master’s program in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomolecular Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Biostatistics, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Science, Statistics, or a related field
Strong fundamental scientific and engineering skills for the evaluation of experimental data
Laboratory skills applicable to bioprocess development and analytical methods
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
GPA of 3.5 on a 4 scale or equivalent
Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as the ability to contribute to high performing teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
