Sentara Health is currently hiring a Licensed Professional Nurse (LPN) to work at Virginia Beach General Hospital on the 3 West Ortho/Trauma Unit.

 Department/Position Overview: 
The 3 West Ortho/Trauma unit at Sentara Virginia Beach General specializes in providing expert care for patients with musculoskeletal injuries and related complications.  Our unit is comprised of 24 in-patient beds.  Our patient population includes admissions from the OrthoJoint, Spine, Fracture, and Ortho/Trauma centers, as well as medical/surgical patients. The nursing unit enjoys a supportive team environment including resources such as a unit-based nurse educator, orthopedic navigator, respiratory therapy, PT/OT, nursing care partners, unit coordinators, charge nurse and manager. The unit has an active Unit-Based Partnership Council and participates in many hospital-wide Nurse led Councils.

The primary duties of this position include triaging, verifying medical information, caring for the patient's overall health, and working closely with the doctors and other team members. Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) functions under the supervision of an RN or Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) in the clinical setting, within the scope of practice dictated by the State Boards of Nursing. The LPN demonstrates professional and clinical knowledge relative to designated clinical practice setting in the delivery of direct patient care, adhering to the level of verified competency dictated by the site specific program.
