About the role:
Boston Scientific’s intravascular imaging business is experiencing rapid growth, resulting in a robust project and product pipeline. The R&D team is growing to meet the increasing needs of the business, and an additional Engineer II is needed. The focus of the role is on improvement to existing commercialized products with influence and collaboration in the new product pipeline. This is an on-site role working directly with team in Maple Grove, MN, with collaboration across BSC’s global manufacturing and R&D footprint.
Work Mode:
At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows an onsite work model, requiring employees to be present in our Maple Grove, MN office, at least four to five days per week.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Fully participates in and successfully contributes to project teams typically including the following activities: product design and development, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process capability studies, research investigations (animal and clinical studies), report preparation, and process/test documentation.
- Works independently to plan and schedule own activities necessary to meet timelines.
- Designs and coordinates standard engineering tests and experiments.
- Prepares standard reports/documentation to communicate results to the technical community.
- Trains and provide work directions to technicians.
- Performs troubleshooting on new products/process problems related to design, material, or process.
- Works cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing to ensure project success.
Required qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience
- Travel to internal sites for collaboration and to customer sites to support products. Approximately 10% or less.
- Technical – Planning and execution of complex engineering studies to ensure robust design controls for supported products.
- Quality System – demonstrated ability to ensure compliance while striving for efficiency in tasks.
- Collaboration – demonstrated experience building team consensus, understanding and enabling other functions’ goals to enable full business success.
Preferred qualifications:
- Preferred engineering disciplines: Biomedical, Mechanical.
- Experience in medical devices or other highly regulated industry.
- Experience with imaging or other electrical-mechanical systems preferred.
- Experience with systems methodology preferred.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
