The Executive Director, Academic Affairs – School/College is a multifaceted position responsible for ensuring the school's academic quality, reputation, and compliance with accreditation standards.  The incumbent plays a pivotal role in advancing the school's mission and standing in the academic community and industry.  Success in this role requires a combination of strategic thinking, data analysis, leadership, and the ability to navigate the complex landscape of accreditation and rankings in higher education.
 

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                                     

    

1.    Oversees and leads the accreditation process for the school, ensuring compliance with relevant accrediting bodies.
2.    Develops and maintains a deep understanding of accreditation criteria, standards, and guidelines.
3.    Collaborates with departments, faculty, and staff to collect, analyze, and report data required for accreditation self-assessment and reporting.
4.    Leads accreditation visits, communicates with accreditation teams, and addresses any recommendations or findings.
5.    Acts as the school’s liaison with Central Faculty Affairs on all faculty and academic matters.  Works closely with the Dean and other academic leaders to develop and implement faculty recruitment, retention, and development strategies.  Manages the school’s faculty hiring processes, promotions, and tenure reviews.
6.    Oversees faculty workloads, course assignments, and sabbatical leaves.  Addresses faculty concerns and provides guidance on academic policies and procedures.  Supports professional development opportunities for faculty and faculty affairs staff.
7.    Develops and implements strategies to improve the school's rankings and reputation.
8.    Collaborates with marketing and communications teams to enhance the school's visibility and brand.
9.    Engages in outreach to external organizations and industry stakeholders to build strong relationships that can positively impact the school's reputation.
10.    Monitors and analyzes data related to accreditation, faculty performance, and rankings.  Generates reports and provides regular updates to the Dean, University administration, and accreditation bodies.
11.    Develops and updates policies and procedures related to accreditation, faculty affairs, and rankings improvement.  Ensures the school's practices align with accreditation standards and best practices in higher education.
12.    Uses data-driven insights to make recommendations for continuous improvement.  
13.    Manages the budget for areas under purview, including faculty development, accreditation expenses, and initiatives aimed at improving rankings.
14.    Supervises and leads a team responsible for accreditation, faculty affairs, centers and institutes, and rankings.
15.    Ensures internal control oversight and compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding of assets, compliance with University policies and procedures, reliability of internal and external reporting, and efficiency and effectiveness of operations.  Creates an effective control environment, conducts risk assessment, and implements and monitors controls.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                    

Education:

Master’s degree in relevant field

Experience:

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.

  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.

  • Strong understanding of accreditation standards and processes.

  • Excellent proficiency in faculty affairs management and development.

  • Strong research, data analysis, and evaluation skills.

  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
