This position is responsible for performing accounting functions to support the Bank's daily accounting and reconciling processes; supports payables and reporting functions.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares daily journal entries timely, researching errors as needed to complete postings.
  • Runs and distributes daily management reporting.
  • Prepares daily reconciliations timely in accordance with the accounting team’s requirements.
  • Researches reconciling items and proposes corrective action as applicable.
  • Communicates inter-departmental reconciling items as applicable, monitors responses, escalates aged items as appropriate.
  • Responds timely to requests and inquiries from other team members within the department and throughout the Bank.
  • Performs a variety of routine daily tasks; reviews reports, prepares correspondence; participates in special department projects.
  • Supports the accounts payable functions as needed.
  • Assists with audits as needed.
  • Learns and understands reporting in the general ledger.
  • Assists with other related accounting functions within the department as assigned.
  • Completes all internal Bank training as assigned.
  • Adheres to the Bank’s privacy and data security policies including but not limited to safeguarding of sensitive information and complying with relevant regulations to protect non-public information.
  • Exhibits the ability and desire to embrace and enhance the Bank culture.

QUALIFICATIONS 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in Accounting, and one to three years related accounting experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite for use in primary duties.
  • Basic knowledge of the banking and financial services industry.
  • Willingness to gain new knowledge and technical skills.
  • Intermediate typing skills to meet the production needs of the position.
  • Intermediate math skills: the ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio, and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, read, analyze, and interpret documents and professional journals, understand procedures, draft reports, correspondence, and procedures, speak clearly to customers and employees.
