As a Sr Associate Application Engineer (Front End), you’ll partner with product designers and user experience experts to create the ultimate experience for our customer’s on discover.com. By understanding our users and the interconnected network within Discover, you’ll develop a delightful user experience. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.

 

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with designers and developers to create responsive and user-friendly web applications using ReactJS
• Write clean, maintainable and efficient code in JavaScript and related web technologies
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to other team members
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in web development
• Develop and support REST api’s using Java and Spring Boot
• Analyze, design, program, test, and deploy new user stories and features with high quality (security, reliability, operations) to production
• Tends to Associate Application Engineers by providing learning tasks as well as work related tasks, directs the work of Senior Associate Application Engineers, and helps them continue to grow
• Achieves team commitments (and influence others to do the same) by using informal leadership & highly developed communication skills
• Has an oversight on design decisions and guides team to achieve key results for products assigned to them
• Remediates issues using engineering principles and creates proactive design solutions for potential failures
• Contributes to and leads technology communities at Discover

 

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:

• Bachelors – Computer Science or related
• 1+ Years – Information Technology, (Software) Engineering, or related
• Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale

 

Bonus Points If You Have:

• Advanced experience using ReactJS/Redux
• Experience Designing UI/UX components
• Experience using Javascript
• Experience using GraphQL
• Experience with CSS/SASS or similar
• Experience with Java/Spring Boot
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and project management tools such as JIRA
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $70,000.00 to $118,400.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
