Position Overview


The Director of Permanency Support is responsible for the strategic oversight and management of the Permanency Support units. This role includes supervising specialized teams, implementing policies, analyzing performance metrics, and building strong relationships with stakeholders. The Director ensures the highest quality service delivery while aligning with agency goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Oversight:  
    • Manage the Permanency Support team, including Adoption Specialists, Family Finders, Independent Living Specialists, Courtesy Specialists, and grant-funded positions.
    • Supervise Permanency Support Supervisors and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Performance Management:  
    • Analyze performance metrics and ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
    • Prepare and present reports on program status, needs, and achievements.
  • Strategic Planning:  
    • Develop and implement short- and long-term goals, policies, and strategic plans for the Permanency division.
    • Identify and address program requirements to enhance service delivery.
  • Collaboration & Advocacy:  
    • Build positive relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders to support children’s permanency.
    • Promote and practice cultural sensitivity in all interactions.
  • Driving Requirements:  
    • Occasionally transport children or conduct agency business using personal or agency vehicles. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and meet agency driving standards.

Qualifications

  • Education:  
    • Master’s degree in human services (preferred).
    • Bachelor’s degree in human services and at least five years of progressive experience in child welfare (required).
  • Experience & Skills:  
    • Proven leadership experience in child welfare or related fields.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical and legal documents.
    • Strong presentation skills for engaging diverse audiences, including top management and boards of directors.
    • Proficient in financial analysis, data interpretation, and strategic planning.
  • Certifications:  
    • None required.
