About the role

Location: Riley Hospital
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., with weekend rotation 2–3 times per year

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in supporting the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the healthcare facility. This position is responsible for performing both scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance and responding promptly to maintenance service requests. The technician troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains building infrastructure and secondary utility systems essential to patient care, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, medical air, and related systems.

This role also involves inspecting, maintaining, and repairing specialized healthcare equipment and facility systems in accordance with applicable codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The Maintenance Technician conducts routine inspections of buildings and grounds, accurately documents completed work, and identifies opportunities for facility or system improvements through appropriate reporting channels. Collaboration with clinical staff, environmental services, and other departments is essential to maintaining a safe, functional, and compliant care environment. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Respond to maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner
  • Manage and complete preventive maintenance work orders as scheduled
  • Build rapport and collaborate effectively with the maintenance team
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with clinical partners and other departments

 

Required Qualifications

  • Familiarity with computerized work order or maintenance management systems
  • General computer proficiency, including basic technical navigation
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Strong self‑motivation with the ability to work independently
  • Effective time‑management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and stay on top of assigned work
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with the departments served

 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • May require a valid Indiana driver's license with proof of insurance.
  • Requires general knowledge of specialized areas including electrical secondary systems, plumbing systems, fire system devices and air systems.
  • Requires the ability to read and interpret information from blueprints, schematics and diagrams.
  • Requires general knowledge in the use of power and hand tools.
  • Requires basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes related to healthcare preferred.
  • Requires a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
