The Sr Manager, Project Management will provide leadership to the San Diego Clinical Development and Supply Project Management team ensuring all projects are managed effectively and according to client expectations. This individual will be an active member of the Global Project Management team, participating in global objectives and driving the development of the global project management function. Further, they will be an active member of the Site Leadership Team (SLT) representing Project Management, participating in site decisions and initiatives and striving to meet revenue, metrics and goals.

The Role:

  • Effectively support, supervise, and monitor performance of Project Management Managers, Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, and Project Coordinators in the management of assigned projects.
  • Lead the team through ambiguity and periods of change by providing clear direction, fostering adaptability, and ensuring team members remain focused on priorities even in uncertain environments.
  • Maintain a balanced approach by integrating both strategic and tactical perspectives—ensuring alignment with organizational goals while also overseeing day-to-day project execution and operational needs.
  • Ensure the Project Management staff are trained and developed appropriately to meet the needs of the business and allow individuals to reach their full potential.
  • Ensure the Project Management staff adheres to all G&Os, PM processes tools, and metrics.
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate resources are available and allocation of work within the team.
  • Responsible for ensuring that a safe working environment is maintained for himself/herself and his/her colleagues by observing all safety procedures and working methods, and reading, understanding, and following documents issued or notified to him/her.
  • Initiate and manage assigned Project Management budget.
  • Provide effective support to teams as required and be the point of escalation for issues that Managers, Senior PMs, PMs, Coordinators need support to resolve.
  • Ensure the Project Management staff supply required information and participate in forecasting, revenue, and S&OP activities.
  • Support client visits along with business development and site leadership, and interact with clients related to new and on-going business.
  • Represent PM at Executive meetings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

The Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Minimum of 5 years in a client-facing project management, or scientific environment
  • Minimum of 3 years of people leadership
  • Project Management Certification preferred
  • Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent-sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience
  • In-depth knowledge of the contract development/research, pharmaceutical, biotech industries
  • Strong project management knowledge with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Proven leadership, interpersonal, problem-solving, negotiation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Customer-focused team player with excellent analytical, communication, and client-facing skills, committed to exceeding customer expectations.

The anticipated salary range for this role in California is $150,000 to $200,000 annually.
