CAD Drafter I

We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate CAD Drafter. This position reports to Engineering Manager and will work in Huntsville.

About the position

As CAD Drafter of the Huntsville team, you will be responsible for documenting diagrams, schematics, layouts, multi-view, and various engineering drawings using computer aided drafting systems.  The CAD drafter also supports product verification and manufacturing preparation for new or changed products.

Your Main Responsibilities

• Prepare drawings, and revise existing drawings, from explicit verbal or written instructions or detailed sketches
• Work in multi-function new product development teams, including program/product management, product design, manufacturing engineering, supply chain management and operations
• Follows company and client drafting standards and procedures
• Falibrate prototypes and fixtures that may involve 3D printing
• Use measurement equipment ( Calipers, Micrometers, Angle gauge, etc) to define and verify part compliance
• Participate in design reviews of test systems and plans
• Assist as needed with ISO compliance to ensure the product will be delivered with the highest quality to customers
• Assist test techinicans to verify products
• Assist manufacturing team to develop manufacturing and test fixtures
• Other duties as assigned to assist in other areas and departments as needed in obtaining the goals and objectives of Dometic.

Skills & Requirements

A suitable background would be a solid experience within manufacturing and drafting as well as the following qualifications and experiences:

• Associate's degree in computer aided drafting and design with minimum of 2 years' experience or bachelor’s degree (preferred)
• Course work in drafting technology or specialized CAD certification, or equivalent work experience
• 2-5 years previous work experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
• Must be able to create drawings per recognized drafting and design standards (ASTM, National Tooling and Machining Association, Mil Spec)
• Proficiency in computer aided drafting
• Proven skills using SolidWorks, AutoCAD
• Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 15 lbs. and perform other basic physical demands of the position as needed
