Position Overview
The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for delivering usable business intelligence across the entire line of products and business units, running a business intelligence reporting project from start to finish with minimal direction.

What you will work on
Provide timely reporting
- Develop timely, business-actionable intelligence.
- Generate results in a form that is immediately useful to stakeholders – whether a dashboard, a data set, or an email.
- Earn a reputation for accuracy. Your results are consistently correct, and stakeholders come to you because they trust you.
Handle a project from start to finish
- Work with stakeholders to turn vague requests into concrete requirements. Often stakeholders are not quite certain what they need, or are unaware that there is something even more useful we could provide. You work with them to iron out the details, and use business judgment to choose what form the output should take.
- Find and process the data to make it understandable and usable.
- Extract meaning from the data using SQL, Tableau, or Excel as appropriate. Dig in deeper when you see something interesting. Demonstrate good judgment about what questions might yield useful results.
- Manage workload using DrFirst’s task-management system (Jira). Be able to juggle a few open tasks at once. Provide progress reports and other updates as needed to the relevant stakeholders.
- After delivery, follow up with stakeholders to enhance the project as appropriate.
Mentor and coach other data analysts
- Train other analysts on how to use DrFirst’s data assets.
- Mentor other analysts on best practices and technologies.
- Build data dictionaries, documentation, and other assets that help others understand DrFirst data.
Develop expertise in DrFirst data across all products and business units
- Be the go-to expert on all areas of DrFirst data. You are the first person people think to call when they don’t understand what our data means.
- DrFirst’s data has many problems and inconsistencies. You perform rigorous QA on the data itself to detect these problems and account for them in your work.
- Rigorous attention to detail. You catch your own mistakes and the mistakes of others.
Demonstrate expertise in the following tools:
- SQL
- Tableau
- Excel
- Basic statistics
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, or another quantitative major preferred.
- Minimum 4 years’ professional work experience
- SQL Required
- Experience with some data visualization tool required. Tableau preferred.
- Experience in healthcare or in customer support preferred.
Physical Requirements
- 90% desk and phone work.
- 10% travel across DrFirst and customer locat
