Summary/Objective
The DECC Parking Department is looking for motivated individuals to look after the DECC’s Parking Lots and Ramps. A Parking Maintenance employee takes care of the day-to-day cleaning of the lot and ramps, setting of cones and flag lines, performing repairs within the lot and ramps, and supporting the parking booth attendants and traffic directors during operating hours.

Essential Functions (Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.)
- Clean and maintain the DECC’s parking lots and ramps.
- Follow all safety policies and promote a culture of safety throughout the department.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Report on parking lot and ramp maintenance to Parking Manager.
- Assist Parking Attendants and Traffic Directors during busy times.
- Enforce lot and ramp rules, such as maintaining fire lanes.
- Set up parking lot with cones, flag lines, and signage.
- Lifting and distributing grit and salt products on slippery surfaces.
- Monitor the parking lot and ramp during busy events and provide updates on capacity.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks, including but not limited to repairs, painting, etc.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Schedule
This position is part-time with an event-driven schedule. They will have daytime and/or evening shifts scheduled on various days of the week and may include some holidays. 20-30 hours per week are available. Due to the nature of some events, a definite end time cannot always be scheduled, but an estimate will be provided.
Work Environment
The work environment will fluctuate based on the weather, such as hot and cold temperatures and precipitation.
Physical Demands
This position will require someone that is able to stand on their feet for many hours at a time, moving quickly to various places as needed. They will need to use their hands frequently, and be able to see, hear, and speak often. Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Successful completion of reference checks
- Successful completion of a background check
- Successful completion of a drug test, if applicable
Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements
The DECC uses USCIS Form I-9 to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment. On the form, an employee must attest to his or her employment authorization. The employee is required to present the DECC with acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorization at the time of hire. The DECC will examine the employment eligibility and identity document(s).
The list of acceptable documents can be provided by Human Resources.
Collective Bargaining Agreement
Please refer to the current Hourly Labor agreement between the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) and the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 70, AFL-CIO. The current agreement can be found at www.iuoe70.org
At-Will Employment
This position is at will. This means if you are offered the position and accept, your employment with the DECC is for an indefinite period of time and it is subject to termination by you or the DECC, with or without cause, with or without notice, and at any time. Nothing in this job description or any other policy of the DECC shall be interpreted to be in conflict with or to eliminate or modify in any way, the at will employment status of this position.
The at will employment status of an employee of the DECC may be modified only in a written employment agreement with that employee which is signed by the Executive Director or the Chair of the DECC Board of Directors.
