Our Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS) - Standard Terminal Area Replacement System (STARS) program teams has a mid-career opportunity for a talented Software professional to provide software development, integration, testing, and software sustainment support for FAA National Air Traffic Control systems.
Our STARS team strives for technical excellence by drawing upon a diverse workforce whose knowledge base covers a wide spectrum of platforms and technologies. This is an opportunity to work in a teaming environment, working collaboratively with the customer, cross-functional engineering teams, and other technical contributors. You will provide a wide range of support tasks to include:
-software development, troubleshooting, integration, and analysis;
-design and execution of detailed software test plans/procedures;
-investigation of software anomalies and development of software fixes and enhancements using C programming on the RHEL operating system;
-provide weekly written and verbal status reports to the team and management.
*** This position is located at the William J Hughes FAA Technical Center (WJHTC) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ with initial training and orientation at our RTX facility in Mt Laurel, NJ. Once on-site at the FAA Technical Center this will be a Hybrid position: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite; typically three days per week required at the jobsite location.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years related software experience to include software development, integration, validation, and testing using industry standard methodologies and a variety of analysis tools.
- Requires prior experience with C programming on a Linux operating system (preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux, RHEL); experience with a configuration management tool (such as ClearCase or GIT).
- Requires prior experience generating technical documentation and preparing / facilitating technical briefings, as well as experience forging teaming relationships requiring regular communication with all levels of internal / external stakeholders.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Requires occasional travel to Terminal Facilities and other RTX facilities as well as occasional overtime and/or non-standard hours during test events.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract; Must be able to obtain a Department of Transportation/ FAA clearance.
EDUCATION: Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications We Value:
Experience with Air Traffic Control Systems (ATC)
Experience with Standard Terminal Area Replacement System (STARS)
Experience troubleshooting ATC systems
Understanding of ATC Standard Operating Procedures
Knowledge of ATC concepts including but not limited to Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADSB), Wide Area Multilateration (WAM) and ATC Radar fusion
Experience designing and preparing automated testing
