Job Summary

Primarily focus on the development of competitive-regulated electric transmission infrastructure bids in an effort to drive growth both within and beyond the AEP footprint. Work with internal stakeholders to support the policy, regulatory, finance, and budgeting responsibilities of the business unit and these initiatives. Participate as assigned in the development of Transource competitive proposals by supporting input and activities of transmission planning, engineering, procurement, project management, operations, maintenance, compliance, cost estimation, regulatory and financing. Provide detailed financial and market analysis related to the development of strategic initiatives, benchmarks and maintaining measurements of the organization's performance with both utility and non-utility competitors. Prepare and conduct presentations, reports, talking points, and summaries in support of competitive transmission development and advocacy efforts. Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the transmission organization, and with internal and external customers. Provide support to various strategic teams and programs. Lead and oversee work of other members of the team.

Job Description

Work Designation/Location -- on June 1, 2025, this opportunity will transition from Columbus, OH, to New Albany, OH, and onsite when not traveling for work.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

- Strategize to attain competitive bid development opportunities for electric transmission infrastructure investments.

- Manage and perform proposal and bid development via multi-functional teams consisting of internal and external resources including performing complex financial analysis, drafting content and coordinating and consolidating input from internal and external organizations.

- Research internal and external transmission market conditions to support recommendations on markets, competitors, trends, etc. and actively participate in discussions with market participants such as utilities, vendors and other stakeholders and decision-makers.

- Lead and work with accounting, finance, regulatory, and budgeting to support the finance and regulatory functions of the business unit including but not limited to financial statements, budgets, capital calls, state and federal regulatory filings, etc.  Support expert witness testimony to support utility status applications in FERC and state regulatory proceedings.

Complete final review of prepared presentations for the board of directors, senior leadership, conferences, and stakeholder forums.

- Complete final review of prepared talking points and conduct presentations for senior leadership supporting the strategic positions of the transmission organization.

- Perform detailed analysis of pertinent data to determine appropriate actions to take based on the analysis.  Facilitate presentations to internal and external customers as assigned.

- Lead and oversee work of other members of the team.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering or related field of study.

Experience: Typically requires ten (10) years of experience in a financial and/or business strategy role.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

- MBA preferred

- Strong commercial, analytical, oral and written communication and presentation skills are required.

- The ability to successfully work with a diverse set of internal and external partners is required.

- Experience working with cross-functional teams, customers, vendors or partners is preferred.

- Working knowledge of transmission cost recovery and transmission business functions (planning, engineering, construction, O&M, etc.) is preferred.

- Working knowledge of the competitive transmission market and various RTO constructs is preferred.

- Position may require periods of long work hours and some travel when needed. - The individual must possess the ability to keep commercially sensitive items confidential. Individual must possess a positive attitude, be a self-starter and work well in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.

INITIAL POSITION / BASE SALARY FUNDING: approximately ($133,000 - $172,000/year). In addition to base salary, AEP offers competitive Total Rewards including:  discretionary annual/long-term incentives, 401(k), pension, health insurance, vacation, educational assistance, etc.
