Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Mental Health Technician III for the Fox Developmental Center located in Dwight, Illinois to provide physical support with personal care services to individuals on an assigned unit on an assigned shift. Conducts individual and group programs. Verifies individual safety and protection through monitoring and supervision. Teaches and directs individuals in the maintenance of a clean, safe and secure environment.  Serves as a lead worker to lower-level staff. Requires the ability to travel.

Essential Functions

  • Provides physical support with personal care services to individuals on an assigned unit on an assigned shift.
  • Conducts individual and group programs.
  • Serves as designated lead worker to lower-level staff. 
  • Verifies individual safety and protection through monitoring and supervision.
  • Teaches and directs individuals in the maintenance of a clean, safe and secure environment.
  • Attends and completes scheduled training by Department of Human Services (DHS), the center and the programmatic unit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
  • Requires successful completion of an approved training program and one (1) year experience in, or applicable to the care, treatment and development of individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others.
