Nurse Externship Program 2026 | 8 Week Paid Program

Description

The Nurse Extern will be responsible for assisting with unit/patient care needs under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. The nurse extern will shadow a nurse preceptor and observe nursing care while practicing in the role of a Certified Nursing Assistant I or II.

Externs will be expected to work the schedule of their assigned preceptor.

Schedule: Full time - 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, available holidays and weekends and rotating shifts.

Requirements

• Enrollment in an accredited nursing program and entering senior year fall of 2025.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current listing as a Nurse Aide I in good standing with the Division of Health Regulation. Nurse Aide II required before start of Nurse Externship Program May 19, 2025.
• Must possess full range of body motion to pass a basic FIT test to include bending, stooping, standing and sitting for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
