Job Description

SUMMARY: 

Reporting to the Chairperson, the Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Supervisor provides leadership, mentorship, and advanced clinical supervision to graduate students and junior clinicians within Montclair State University’s Center for Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology during their on-campus practica. This role combines direct clinical service delivery with teaching responsibilities, ensuring that clinical practice is evidence-based, ethical, and aligned with the University's educational goals. This position also supports departmental initiatives and interprofessional education.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate graduate students and clinical fellows conducting speech, language, and swallowing assessments and interventions.

  • Provide direct clinical services to patients with diverse communication disorders across the lifespan.

  • Oversee clinical workflow, ensuring adherence to best practices, clinic policies, and regulatory standards.

  • Facilitate integration of current research into clinical teaching and practice.

  • Coordinate with faculty, program directors, and administrative staff to support student learning and clinical education objectives.

  • Conduct training sessions, case conferences, and workshops to enhance clinical knowledge and skills.

  • Monitor and document student clinical performance and progress, providing constructive feedback and evaluations aligned with accreditation standards.

  • Maintain and manage clinic resources, including assessment tools and treatment materials.

  • Participate in program development, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives within the clinic and academic program.

  • Stay current with professional trends, including licensure and certification requirements, and promote professional development.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Speech-Language Pathology.

  • Minimum three years of experience in speech-language pathology, including student supervision in a university setting.

  • Experience providing SLP therapy across the lifespan

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA (CCC-SLP).

  • New Jersey License in Speech-Language Pathology or eligibility to obtain one.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience working with clients across the lifespan with diverse communication disorders.

  • Familiarity with ASHA standards for clinical certification and accreditation.

  • Experience working in an academic setting as a clinical educator.

Salary Range

$73,899.90-$96,060.58 Annually
