JOB SUMMARY

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Connecticut (UConn) is pleased to invite applications for a renewable, 9-month, non-tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Residence beginning August 23, 2026, at the Stamford campus.

UConn Stamford is an urban campus at the center of one of Fairfield County’s robust business communities, just 45 minutes from New York, which gives students ample opportunities for internships and careers. The campus serves 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students, including many first-generation college students. It offers 14 undergraduate majors, including business administration, digital media and design, computer science, and history.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teaching seven courses per academic year with a 4/3 or 3/4 teaching load, which may include all levels of undergraduate courses in Mathematics. ⁠The successful candidate will incorporate both traditional and emerging instructional practices into their teaching.
• ⁠Additional duties may include advising undergraduate students; contributing to the department’s recruitment and outreach activities; and contributing service at the department, school, and university levels.       
• Participation in professional development activities, including scholarly or training events, internal to the university as well as external.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Mathematics (granted by August 2026).
• University-level teaching experience.
• Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with a broad range of perspectives in teaching.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with educational technologies, such as online homework systems, message boards, videos, smartboards, and interactive technological teaching tools.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This position is a renewable, 9-month, non-tenure track position at the Stamford campus, with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2026. The teaching load will be seven courses per academic year or the equivalent. Faculty may also be asked to teach at one of UConn’s regional campuses as part of their ordinary workload. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
