Under the supervision and mentorship of the American Heart Association’s Volunteerism team, the intern will support strategies to engage youth and young adults across the country—specifically through high school and college Heart Clubs and the National Youth Leadership Council.
This internship is ideal for a motivated student with a passion for service, strong communication skills and a creative eye for messaging and design. Interns will help shape the voice and strategy of youth engagement campaigns through content development, meeting coordination and marketing support.
The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.

Internship Overview:
- Time Commitment: 25 hours per week
- Internship Duration: 1/26/26-5/1/26
- Location: Remote
- Salary: $23.00 per hour

Responsibilities
Tasks may include:
- Assisting with the development and editing of marketing materials for corporate volunteer groups, youth volunteers and Heart Clubs (flyers, toolkits, outreach templates).
- Creating or updating social media templates and visual assets in Canva.
- Scheduling and coordinating virtual meetings with Heart Club leaders, National Youth Leadership Council members and American Heart Association staff.
- Assisting with data entry and management in excel including using pivot tables.
- Supporting communications internally and externally (e.g., email inbox management, meeting notes and mail merge).
- Preparing slide decks, visuals or recaps for presentations or training webinars.
- Participating in special projects to test or improve youth engagement strategies or related to corporate volunteerism strategies.
Qualifications
- College Seniors and Graduate students studying non-profit management, business, or communications preferred.
- Experience or interest in project management preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Basic graphic editing and design experience a plus.
- Demonstrated interest and involvement in volunteerism and student run organizations.
- Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications.
- Ability to deal professionally in a corporate or non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding projects and programs.
- Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection.
- Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
