Job Description

The IT Specialist (Communication and Data Infrastructure Specialist) manages data and communications infrastructure for remote monitoring sites across our company's Animal Heath landscape. The IT Specialist role leads development of communications solutions for remotely telemetered equipment, resolves data transfer and corruption issues and identifies security solutions for communications. The role also supports Pre and Post-Sales technical efforts, projects, and conducts routine and emergency site visits to maintain and/or repair our Company's Animal Health Aqua technology communications systems in conjunction with radio-frequency identification (RFID) components, power sources, communications infrastructure, fish counters/pumps/graders, and remote monitoring. As part of the Post-Sales Support Team the role is key for customer support of all aspects of mature and emerging communications technologies.

Key Competencies:

Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Communications infrastructure projects and Post-Sales operations and maintenance, both in office and in field.

  • Coordination of communications infrastructure with Project Sales Staff, Post-Sales Staff, Customers, and Stakeholders.

  • Installation and maintenance of our company's Animal Health Aqua technology communication systems.

  • Remote monitoring and diagnosis of systems.

  • Integration of communications systems or components into new and existing projects. Pre-sale, and post-sale support.

  • Product testing and development assistance.

  • Database management and improvement.

  • Network and communications troubleshooting.

  • Demonstrated safe driver.

  • Desire to learn new skills and continually improve processes.

Scope & Context:

  • This position is an individual contributor role on the Post-Sales Support team reporting to the NORAM Post-Sales Support Lead.

  •  Provide remote connectivity solutions and support to help drive the Connected Animal priority for our company's Animal Health Aqua North America products.

  • Develop tools, configuration processes, and documentation to improve team’s efficiency in support of data collection in both the aqua and livestock segments of our company's Animal Health technology offerings.

  • Evolve and maintain cloud-based data collection platforms and AWS infrastructure for our company's Animal Health Aqua technology offerings to improve security and provide 99.9% uptime.

  • Work closely with external data consumers, both end-customers, state, and quasi-government agencies, to ensure access to data and provide accurate, uninterrupted data to external systems.

  • Act as the team conduit to the aqua R&D engineers to improve hardware, software, and data collection offerings.

  • Provide technical support of all hardware, software and communication solutions to our company's Animal Health Aqua teams and customers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent and at least 5 years of relevant work experience.

    • Experience can include data analysis, communications technology installation, communications technology repair, network implementation, remote communications, etc.

    • High degree of proficiency with technical/electronic devices.

    • Wide knowledge of computer operating systems.

    • Knowledge of Cloud-based offerings and solutions.

    • Understanding of network concepts and design of secure solutions.

    • Wide knowledge of remote communications equipment and solutions.

Desired Experience & Skills:

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • High proficiency with computers, operating systems, networks, and wide array of electronic devices.

  • Understanding of TCP/IP network infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of RFID, IOT, M2M systems and principals.

  • The ability to work independently and with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Ability to problem solve on-the-fly.

  • Strong desire to learn new skills and continually improve processes within the team setting.

  • Ability to work as part of a fast paced, growing team in a developing industry.

  • Results oriented and able to work independently with modest direct supervision.

  • Good organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to travel up to 40% predominantly North America, but Globally if necessary.

  • Possess a valid driver license and passport.
