About the role

Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for a Web Development Summer Intern to join our Consumer Digital Strategy department. This position is a full-time, 40 hours per week, internship opportunity based out of our regional office located in Washington D.C. with a hybrid work model. Reporting to a Web Development Manager, the Web Development Summer Intern will gain hands-on experience in web development, software development lifecycle (SDLC), and working with a variety of technologies. You will collaborate with the development team to design, analyze, and create solutions for various internal projects, ensuring smooth and effective web-based system operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in web technologies, programming, and database management.

You can expect to:

  • Collaborate with the development team to review, analyze, and create solutions for MAPMG’s web development needs, utilizing Object-Oriented Programming and RDBMS concepts to support web-based system development
  • Use data querying tools (such as SQL Server) to read/write data to websites and work with technologies including SQL, HTML, jQuery, JavaScript, CSS, C#, .NET, Angular, JSON, PHP, React, and more, while developing, testing, and providing feedback on them
  • Assist with troubleshooting, providing technical support for web-based systems, and experimenting with/prototyping new technologies and features as assigned
  • Work with internal teams to maintain, improve, and ensure the confidentiality of patient records and business activities related to web-based systems

What is required:

  • Must be a current student enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Recent college graduates are ineligible
  • Experience with C# and SQL is required; academic or project experience
  • Experience with Word Press is preferred
  • Proficiency in web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, React, Angular, PHP, and REST APIs
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being able to manage tasks independently
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Must be able to work full-time for a minimum of 12 weeks for the duration of the internship
  • Must be able to commute to the Washington D.C. regional office as needed
  • Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C., Maryland, or Virginia area
  • Must provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employment
  • Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment

The starting hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.00 to $25.00 which considers an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors.
