As Moxion's Senior Systems Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring that our products adhere to all relevant codes, standards, and regulations governing our industry. Leveraging your expertise, you will lead efforts to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements, including UL, CSA, NEC, and other applicable standards, throughout the product lifecycle. As a key member of the systems engineering team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate compliance and certification considerations seamlessly into product design and development processes. Your meticulous attention to detail and knowledge of relevant standards will be instrumental in identifying potential roadblocks and implementing effective mitigation strategies to ensure product safety and regulatory compliance. What you’ll do:
- Systems Requirements & Architecture: Define and document systems requirements by understanding the needs and expectations of various stakeholders. Ensure the requirements are clear, complete, and traceable. Contribute to the development of the system architecture, ensuring that it aligns with the defined requirements and provides a solid foundation for vehicle dynamics and structural integration.
- Design Conformance: Ensure that the design of the mobile energy storage systems conforms to established requirements and standards. Identify design deviations and work to rectify them.
- Interpretation and Application of Codes and Standards: Lead the interpretation and application of relevant codes, standards, and regulations, such as UL, CSA, NEC, IEC, and local building codes, to ensure compliance throughout product development.
- Regulatory Compliance Management: Stay abreast of evolving regulatory requirements and ensure that products meet all applicable standards and regulations, including conducting gap analyses and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to compliance efforts, including technical specifications, compliance matrices, test plans, and certification documentation.
- Certification Management: Manage the certification process for products, including coordinating with external certification bodies, preparing documentation for submission, and addressing any findings or issues identified during the certification process.
- Training and Education: Provide guidance and training to internal teams on codes, standards, and regulatory requirements relevant to their roles, ensuring a thorough understanding of compliance considerations throughout the organization.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve compliance processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, staying proactive in addressing emerging compliance challenges and opportunities for improvement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and product managers, to ensure a holistic approach to system development.
Skills to be successful:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Experience with UL Battery Standards
- Regulatory Compliance Expertise
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
