Senior Nuclear Facility Operations Specialist - Readiness Coordinator

Stockpile Experimentation and Operations Organization / Nuclear Support Services  is actively looking for a candidate to perform the duties of Readiness Coordinator.  

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Readiness and Verification Initiatives: Direct and coordinate moderate-sized readiness projects, including Implementation Verification Reviews (IVR) and Management Assessments. Develop comprehensive plans, project schedules, and reports to meet program objectives and budgets.
• Ensure Regulatory Adherence: Uphold strict compliance with key Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) directives, including DOE O 425.1D (Readiness Verification), NFO O 421.X1 (Safety Management), and DOE-STD-3006-2010 (Readiness Reviews).
• Conduct and Support Formal Assessments: Lead or participate in Contractor Readiness Assessments and Contractor Operational Readiness Reviews. Determine the appropriate scope and level of confirmation needed to ensure operational readiness.
• Manage Review Lifecycle and Documentation: Track and verify the completion of corrective actions stemming from review findings. Maintain a defensible record of all readiness activities, ensuring meticulous archival of reports and supporting evidence.
• Serve as a Technical Liaison and Mentor: Support the Nuclear Support Services/Readiness Manager by collaborating with peers, laboratories, and other MSTS organizations. Liaise with federal oversight bodies during formal reviews and provide guidance to team members on readiness principles and processes.

• Bachelor’s degree in field related to the position or equivalent training and experience, plus at least 5 years of relevant, progressively responsible experience, which
  included 2 years’ experience in nuclear operations or nuclear maintenance such as those found at a DOE nuclear facility, commercial power plant, or US Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program; or experience with high explosives handling and operations; or chemical handling, storage, transfer, and controlled release activities.
• Experience working with requirements-based systems/programs is required which may include nuclear facility management, nuclear operations, maintenance/engineering, radiation protection, safety, nuclear training and qualification management, conduct of operations, nuclear safety, criticality safety, project management and readiness and nuclear startup. 
• Excellent communication and writing skills 
• Direct experience serving as a Readiness Review Team Lead/Member or IVR Lead/Member.
• Previous work within the NNSA/DOE complex, particularly with Hazard Category 2 or 3 nuclear facilities.
• Active DOE "Q" clearance.
• Experience with Management Self-Assessments (MSA) or Contractor Readiness Reviews (CRR).
• The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada). 
• The work schedule is (4) 10-hour shifts, Monday thru Thursday (subject to change).
• Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. 
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
