NextEra Energy’s Usource organization is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in deregulated energy markets and possess the technical capabilities to perform renewables modeling, backcasting, and forward scenario analysis. This role requires a combination of strong technical skills and the ability to engage effectively with key stakeholders to deliver actionable insights and solutions.
Responsibilities

Modeling and forecasting

Perform renewables modeling, backcasting and forward scenarios using pricing forecasts from Hitachi and Ventyx

Develop and maintain PowerBI models for usage and pricing components at a deal-specific level

Own and maintain the Buy Score tool, which manages the forward position of unhedged energy and optimizes clients’ purchasing strategies

Data management and automation

Collect and automate large datasets from multiple sources

Automate processes to handle smaller customers and enforce matrix pricing, including auto renewals

Secure interval and third party data in coordination with relevant teams

Dashboarding and reporting
-
Create visual tools, dashboard and reports by sourcing data from multiple inputs

Utilized advanced Excel, database programming and analysis skills to generate insightful reports

Ensure Buy Score tool integration with budgeting processes and automate budget templates

Stakeholder engagement

Collaborate with leadership, sales, clients and operations teams to translate business problems into technical solutions

Deliver customer-facing and executive-level presentations to communicate findings and recommendations effectively

Strong programming skills in Python and SQL

Advanced Excel skills and experience with database management and analytics

Robust understanding of deregulated electric and gas markets, including pricing and market fundamentals
