Job Summary:
The Providence Center DOC Clinical Therapist Per Diem will conduct psychosocial assessment with criminal offenders who are at the ACI or on home confinement. Position is Per Diem; set your own hours. Averages 8-16 hours per month.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments with criminal offenders who have upcoming parole hearings, as assigned by The RI Parole Board.
Perform a comprehensive psychosocial assessment of assigned clients.
Treat consumers with respect.
Perform in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations.
Apply knowledge of Psychiatric Diagnosis (DSM V).
Apply knowledge of criminogenic risk factors.
Perform and record mental status examination.
Assess clinical emergencies, including suicide and danger to others, and report to appropriate RIDOC personnel.
Utilize parole and police reports, and other documents, provided by RI Parole Board.
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Center policy and legal requirements.
Develop and present, verbally and in writing, a clear clinical formulation based on behavioral data and relevant theory while incorporating psychosocial and family issues.
Use knowledge to determine appropriate treatment recommendations.
Collaborate with other providers, agencies, and individuals in the consumers' network .of care.
Maintain knowledge and familiarity of mental health and/or substance abuse and other related community agencies.
Communicate with RI Parole Board and RIDOC personnel.
Perform record keeping in accordance with Health Information Services and other Center requirements.
Complete biopsychosocial assessment which will be forwarded to Parole Board administrator via encrypted email.
Update Excel spreadsheet which includes information about work performed each month.
Attend mandatory in-service trainings and other trainings required for renewal of licensure.
Maintain cooperative relationships with Center staff, consumers, RIDOC, and RI Parole Board.
Communicate effectively in verbal and written formats.
Work in cooperation with supervisory staff and be open to constructive criticism.
Meetings with RI Parole Board upon request.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Master’s degree in Social Work or related field and clinic
