About the role

This position directly manages Meter Operations supervisors that support metering services in their respective Eversource service territory. Helps supervisors prioritize field service orders to ensure the company is completing tasks in a timely and cost-effective manner. Assists with establishing standards and procedures as technology and processes change. Manages metering projects to comply with various requests that require meter exchanges or investigations. Meets with managers from other organizations to ensure that metering items are included in the discussion and that robust processes are built. Works collaboratively with Collections, Meter Reading, Revenue Assurance, and Billing to ensure customers are correctly metered. Works closely with project managers on major metering projects.

Essential Functions: 

  • Ensures a culture of safety to minimize injuries and vehicle accidents.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of meters and the programs designed to maintain meters and their associated equipment.
  • Manages a team of supervisors and provides direction to ensure all groups are working toward the highest priority goal.
  • Promotes a continuous learning environment to develop employees using performance management, coaching, and developmental assignments.
  • Promotes teamwork among and between all members of the metering organization and other internal groups.
  • Pushes for the resolution of customer issues and complaints pertaining to Meter Operations.
  • Works closely with the Distributed Generation team and ensures Meter Operations complies with program rules.
  • Maintains a strong working relationship with Labor Relations to support amicable relations with the Union.
  • Supports requests from the Finance department related to the development and implementation of annual O&M and Capital budgets.
  • Ensures that company vehicles are properly utilized and maintained, and that employees have the necessary driving training.
  • Assists with storm restoration.

Qualifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill: 

  • Strong understanding of electricity and the associated dangers faced by electrical workers.
  • Strong understanding of various metering services (self-contained, transformer-rated, single phase, polyphase).
  • Strong understanding of the Eversource electric grid and the roles of the different departments that support the various parts.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and administrative ability.
  • Demonstrated strong project management skills.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills with direct reports.
  • Familiar with the regulatory, legal, and governmental requirements related to metering.
  • Familiar with meter lab processes and their support function.
  • Familiar with finance and accounting practices related to metering.
  • Familiar with standard computer systems.

Education:                            

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.

Preferred:

  • Engineering degree
  • Electrical degree/certificate
  • Project management degree/certificate

Experience:                           

Required:

  • Ten (10) plus years in engineering work in a business environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience managing Meter Operations field employees.
  • Experience managing Union employees.
  • Experience working with residential/commercial solar metering setups.

Licenses & Certifications:   

  • Project Management Profession (PMP) desirable

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $142,000 - $158,000 plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
