About the role

Description

The Department of Sport Science and Health Education invites applicants for a full-time faculty position in Sport Administration, with an initial 3-year contract, beginning with the 2026-2027 academic year. The department is seeking a dynamic candidate committed to teaching excellence to complement its current strengths of successful student engagement within the growing Des Moines market, while contributing their own area of expertise.  

 The selected candidate will:  

  • Teach six courses per year, consistent with departmental need and the candidate’s training and interests.
    • Courses may include sport sales, sport finance, sport facility and event management, sport marketing, and sport business courses applicable within the general education curriculum.
  • Contribute to student success and recruitment, advise students, and incorporate experiential learning into coursework.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:  

 

Terminal degree in sport management or a related field. PhD or EdD required (ABD considered).  

 

Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to each individual student’s needs for success. 

Demonstrate ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with colleagues to facilitate student experiential learning, research, and internship opportunities. 

Willingness to participate in department activities, service to the college, and ability to work with faculty, staff, and students in a collegial and cooperative manner.
