­­Overview:  

We are seeking a Technical Professional for Computational Platform and Data Management Development who will focus on designing and implementing advanced computational platforms and data management solutions to support cutting-edge research and development activities. This role will involve creating high-performance software tools, streamlining workflows, and managing data infrastructure to enable breakthrough scientific discoveries. This position resides in the Microstructural Evolution Modeling Group in the Theory Section, Materials Science and Technology Division, Physical Science Directorate, at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).  

 

As part of our team, you will contribute to the development and optimization of computational frameworks, ensuring the efficient handling and analysis of complex datasets in high-performance computing environments. Your work will play a critical role in accelerating research in materials science, physics, engineering, and related fields, driving innovation at ORNL.

Major Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software tools, workflows, and applications to support research projects.
  • Work closely with scientists, engineers, and domain experts to translate research ideas into functional software.
  • Optimize software for performance, scalability, and reliability across diverse computing environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in code, algorithms, or system integration during research activities.
