JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Sr. Manager, Production to join our growing team.
Summary
As a Sr. Manager, Production, you will oversee manufacturing and production operations, including processing, assembly, machinery, processing and/or packaging. You will set production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, materials supply, staffing resources and volume required to meet demand and to ensure maximum production quantity and quality.This role is considered as an Assistant Plant Manager, you will be responsible for the output of multiple work areas and focus on implementing and executing strategies within own department, family, and team. In this position, you will performs a variety of tasks such as managing the output of one or more product lines, overseeing month end inventory, initiating equipment/supply orders, handling disputes among team members and regularly assessing safety standards in all areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Motivating, supporting, and providing guidance to all levels of department staff
- Ensures all safety and health standards are met to keep an organization accident-free.
- Communicating regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting production
- Evaluates machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime.
- Establishes a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations.
- Sets productivity goals for each manufacturing team or product line.
- Develops workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
- Drives improvements in quality, yield, and downtime events.
- Ensures adequate scheduling of staff of assigned product lines.
- Routinely interface with other department managers in finance, engineering, safety and purchasing.
- Manage Product Line Group Managers for one or more product lines.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations Management or Manufacturing Technology, master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a manufacturing facility that offered the opportunity to gain a well-rounded background in quality.
- Preferred experience working in a wood manufacturing environment.
- Six Sigma certification desired.
- Business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Understand production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to develop, plan and implement short- and long-term goals.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written). Proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft Off
