University Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (UPRS) Nurse Navigator

Position Summary

The University Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (UPRS) Nurse Navigator is a Registered Nurse responsible for coordinating and managing the full continuum of patient care within the UPRS practice. This role ensures smooth operations by managing referrals, coordinating care with providers, answering patient inquiries, managing portal requests, coordinating co-surgeries, supporting office operations, managing FMLA paperwork, scheduling surgeries, and providing cross-coverage for all sections of the Plastics office as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Optimize new patient intake processes for the UPRS practice.
• Coordinate and manage patient care, including reviewing and processing referrals.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with referring physicians and their staff.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
• Assist surgeons and advanced practice providers (APPs) with clinical and surgical support.
• Serve as a patient advocate, coordinating communications between patients, providers, and insurance companies to assist with prior authorizations for testing, procedures, and surgeries and FMLA paperwork.
• Attend required meetings and actively participate in team initiatives.
• Maintain active BLS certification.
• Provide coverage for the front, middle, and back-office areas when needed to support overall office operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) license (required).
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) (required).
