How will you make a difference?

The Engineering Technical Leader will be responsible for delivering emissions, fuel consumption and performance requirements to new product introductions as well as existing products going through the factory, reliability and service productivity programs, modifications/tailoring of existing products for new applications/markets (North America and Global).

The role will have a heavy focus on supporting FDL Advantage engine/loco platform.  This will be achieved mainly through engine/loco testing, modeling and simulation including developing digital tools.  Engine testing (single cylinder and multi cylinder) will be conducted on and for Locomotive and Marine and Stationary applications.

What do we want to know about you?

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

• Masters in Engineering with an emphasis on internal combustion engines is desired.

• Understanding of the influence of critical sub-systems such as fuel systems, engine controls and air handling systems on engine performance and emissions control.

• Knowledge and application of mechanical design and assembly procedures.

What will your typical day look like?

• Work with the Global Lab Technicians and third-party test facilities for test execution, troubleshooting and ensuring adequate measurement systems and processes are being used and maintained.

• Analyze data using modeling, analytical and statistical tools.

• Work with cross functional teams to meet emissions and fuel consumption requirements while developing and delivering a feasible concept and/or product.

• Field testing at customer sites and at outside test facilities maybe required.

• Collaborate with the Program Management and Commercial teams to ensure business success.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
