The Infrastructure Engineer implements, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse research infrastructure systems (e.g. multi-purpose hosting, virtualized environments, clusters, virtual networks, cloud environments, real-time systems, business management information systems, logging and monitoring systems, hardware, active directory, Linux/Unix- Windows- or OSx-based, storage area networks (SAN), LAN, virtual and WAN networking, and other infrastructure-related components) based upon documented requirements. Works individually or as part of a product team. Review and test infrastructure components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves reported system issues, configuration management, troubleshooting. Problem solving, troubleshooting with logs, notifications, etc. Utilizes infrastructure engineering and research design methodologies appropriate to the development/test/production environment. Provides specific input to the component system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, system reuses, use of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS), and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual system components with particular emphasis on complex networking topics.
Requirements
TS/SCI with poly required
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or related discipline and twelve (12) or more years’ experience in infrastructure engineering.
- An additional four (4) years of infrastructure experience on projects with similar engineering processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree, six (6) for a Master’s.
- At least one of the following Active Certifications: technical certification Cloud Services (Professional/Expert/Specialty: AWS, Azure or related Cloud Service Provider), OpenStack Certification (COA-Administrator) or two (2) years of OpenStack development or integration, VMware (VMware Certified Design Expert in one of the following: VCDX: VCDX-DCV, VCDX-NV, VCDX-CMA or higher).
- Tools exp with Cameo, Visio, Gliffy, Draw.io, etc. Anything related to Architectual and System diagramming tools.
- Strong collaboration tooling capabilities (JIRA, Confluence etc.)
- Experience with various query languages, system integrations, metrics gathering and dashboarding.
