We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Cost Accountant to join our Accounting team. This individual will lead the areas of inventory, standard costing, and cost of goods. This role will report to the Cost Accounting Manager.
What You’ll Do:
- Maintain the standard cost system to ensure accuracy of inventory valuation and all standard cost updates
- Lead the preparation of month-end close journal entries for inventory and cost of goods sold and SOX compliant reconciliations
- Manage and track key variances: PPV, Material, Labor, and OH variances. Develop relationships with the supply chain, manufacturing, and distribution/warehouse teams in support of leading periodic meetings to resolve questions over variances
- Support BOM analysis and maintenance as required
- Partner with supply chain, manufacturing, and distribution/warehouse departments to discuss and resolve issues in areas such as production, purchasing, accounts payable, receiving, and shipping
- Partner with team to develop and maintain understanding on global inventory transactions and valuation, including E&O exposure
- Prepare monthly Inventory and COGS Reporting; monthly and quarterly flux analysis
- Maintain GAAP compliance and controls for cost accounting function
- Key player in the development and maintenance of SOX controls related to costing and inventory, including training cross functional teams
- Lead the development of monthly metrics that enhance the operations department’s and FP&A’s review of gross margins
- Serve as the liaison to the operations team to implement an effective cycle count program
- Participate and support the financial audit process; includes driving annual physical inventory procedures as well as the gathering and explanation of supporting documentation.
- Drive cost accounting and operations digital / automation transformation efforts, using prior cost accounting experience in scaling a cost accounting function
- Continual improvement and refinement of costing procedures and systems that align with the changing business
- Ad hoc special projects as required
What We’ll Expect From You:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance and 4+ years of specific cost accounting experience in publicly traded companies
- Experience in a process manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX compliance
- Ability to multitask & work in a time-sensitive environment
- Willingness to create business processes and assume ownership of tasks, projects, and assignments
- Attention to detail a must
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and related tools, and demonstrated ability to perform advanced Excel formulas and data analyses
