Job Description

The Senior Financial Analyst of Scripted Production Finance will be responsible for annual show costs and will help with the Production financial and accounting processes for Telemundo Global Studios series and mini-series to ensure timely and accurate recording, reporting of actual and estimated show costs, correct payment of show vendors, staff, crew, and talent.
 

  • Conducts a full financial analysis of the budget for the production(s) and prepares a thorough presentation to highlight areas of concern.
  • Implement uniform reporting requirements, and standard accounting procedures, and oversee daily/weekly show cost reporting.
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly financial statements and decks with supporting documentation for the specific production(s).
  • Identifies risks & opportunities in the financial reports and provides solutions to potential overage issues with the pre-established budgets.
  • Ensures the proper system reconciliation between accounting systems: SAP, Blackline and Vista.
  • Manages production accountants and assistants, and coordinates show budgeting and production accounting processes with accountants.
  • Works with Legal and Business Affairs, Labor Relations, HR, Production Operations, and Financial Departments to effectively manage the financial operations, including cash flow projections, ultimate and cost reporting for assigned productions.
  • Manages production cash flow and supports the monthly/ quarterly corporate financial accounting and corporate cash management processes.
  • Implements and ensures uniform budget policies.
  • Key financial management liaison between production executives, show accountants, show producer/UPM, and corporate finance.
  • Ensure that the NBCU financial controllership and production policies and procedures are implemented consistently, and that payroll is in accordance with standards established by NBCU and is in compliance with collective bargaining agreements and state and local tax regulations.
  • Oversee the budgeting of the projects for pilots and series.
  • Management of indirect staff.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
  • CPA Preferred.
  • Prior experience as a TV Production Accountant a plus
  • Entertainment Partners Vista Accounting, Movie Magic, and Entertainment Partners Budgeting Software experience required.
  • Broad experience with TV genres including mini-series.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to influence senior leadership, lead and manage indirect staff – excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Freelance accountant seeking experience at a large independent or major studio.
  • Experience with preparation of television series show budgets and estimates.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver while working under time pressure on multiple assignments, and to adapt and work well in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Experience with international productions and related tax and accounting issues desired.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Bilingual candidates with a fluency in English and Spanish (speak, read, and write) are strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
