About the Role

The Manager Quality Engineering is a leadership position who leads the quality strategy across both new strategic initiatives and core/legacy products that remain critical to ongoing revenue and customer value. Quality Engineering Manager will define, own, and drive a comprehensive, holistic test strategy in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, collaborating with engineering, product, and commercial teams. This role requires both strategic thinking and hands-on leadership to elevate product quality, optimize testing efficiency, and support velocity without compromising coverage, responsible for managing a QA/Test team within a defined area of responsibility. This position works with other management, plans cross-functional efforts, implements quality and process standards, and provides the team with leadership and day-to-day management to accomplish on-time and efficient delivery of high-quality software products and/or data.

Responsibilities

  • Define, own, and drive the execution of a comprehensive, holistic test strategy that spans both strategic initiatives and legacy products.

  • Ensure full coverage across all test levels: unit, integration, end-to-end (E2E), exploratory, and non-functional testing.

  • Align test efforts with business impact, customer usage, and risk—balancing automation with meaningful manual validation.

  • Collaborate and coordinate across global teams and time zones, ensuring testing strategies are executed consistently and effectively regardless of location.

  • Champion a quality-first mindset across engineering, product, and commercial organizations, fostering a culture of shared responsibility for product quality.

  • Operate in an environment without a dedicated testing org—testing is shared across engineers, product managers, CSMs, and commercial teams.

  • Work closely with these stakeholders to ensure clear expectations, responsibilities, and contribution to testing.

  • Lead a small team of Quality Engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical direction.

  • Own the overall test automation strategy and tooling roadmap.

  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new AI-assisted or low-code test tools as appropriate.

  • Drive the creation and maintenance of reliable, scalable, and maintainable automated test suites.

  • Ensure integration of automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline.

  • Own bug triage and trend analysis processes.

  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) efforts to identify systemic issues and process gaps.

  • Define and track quality KPIs (defect density, escaped defects, automation pass rate, etc.).

  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce test gaps and feedback cycles.

  • Partner with engineering leadership to align quality efforts with sprint and release planning.

  • Collaborate with PMs to ensure test coverage aligns with business impact and risk.

  • Work with Commercial and CSM teams to incorporate customer feedback and field-reported issues into test design.

Requirements

  • 6+ years in software testing, quality engineering, or test management.

  • Proven experience creating and implementing end-to-end test strategies in agile, cross-functional teams.

  • Deep understanding of modern test practices, test automation frameworks, and CI/CD integration.

  • Experience preparing and presenting testing strategy, metrics, and quality updates to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex quality topics in business terms and align QA outcomes with organizational goals.

  • Hands-on experience with tools like Playwright, Selenium, BrowserStack, or similar.

  • Strong analytical skills to identify quality trends and drive actionable insights.
