About the role

This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977). We’re seeking an adventurous and passionate Field Officer to work collaboratively in this vibrant Outback community.  Ledknapper Nature Reserve (Gerara) is located approximately 100 kilometres Northeast of Bourke or Northwest of Brewarrina. The role is required to work across three separate NPWS Reserves. Our Bourke Area staff are passionate about the spectacular reserves they manage.  Our teams bring their full self to the job every day, helping drive innovation for us.

Our Field Officers assist with a diverse range of activities relating to maintenance and improvement to park assets within NPWS parks and reserves.  You will be guided by the senior field staff, in your day-to-day work including animal pest and weed control, routine maintenance, construction and installation of new assets and conservation works. You will operate and maintain plant and equipment, participate in fire management activities, respond to visitor enquiries and assist with compliance activities as required.

The role would suit someone with practical experience in farming, grazing, earthmoving, civil works, mining, heavy industry, remote station work, the ADF or similar fields.  We will help you develop skills in managing natural and cultural heritage.  As you’ll be working on Murrawarri Lands, it is desirable that you have a cultural association with Murrawarri.  If you enjoy working hands-on in the wild outdoors to enhance and preserve the natural and cultural heritage values of national parks, this could be the role for you!  The attractive renumeration package includes a base salary ranging from $60,629-$80,886 (depending on your experience) plus 17% loading for working weekends and public holidays, plus employer's contribution to superannuation, plus additional financial incentives such as rent free accommodation, and free gas and electricity.
