About the role:

As a Product Design Manager at Samsara, you will lead a team that designs interfaces, workflows, and services that our customers use every day to run their operations. We’re looking for someone who is excited to shape the experience of our platform across industries such as transportation, logistics, construction, food and beverage, government and more.

In this role, you will:

• Lead and grow a team of designers
• Own overall end-to-end user experience across your portfolio — guiding your team to find connections between workstreams and leveraging our design system
• Coach and mentor designers to drive strong performance and support career growth
• Talk to customers and engage in research to deeply understand their mental models, needs, workflows and business operations
• Define and drive the product design strategy for your product area
• Drive high-quality product design work in alignment with our company mission and goals
• Create and refine tools, systems and processes that improve team health and product quality
• Collaborate effectively with product and engineering on strategy, planning and execution
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
• Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team

Minimum requirements for the role:

• 5+ years experience in UX and/or related field; 3+ years management experience; 1+ years of work experience working with senior stakeholders
• Experience in mentoring and growing teams of 4+ people, building an effective and healthy environment for the team
• Experience designing for a broad set of form factors and environments including web, desktop and mobile.

An ideal candidate also has:

• A high caliber portfolio showcasing how you have led teams to ship elegant solutions to complex customer / user needs
• An eye for effective interaction and visual design coupled with the ability to give meaningful feedback that improves the user experience
