Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Compliance Coordinator/Deputy Project Manager to join our Environmental Planning & Permitting group in southern California. This role is an exciting opportunity to support industry leading projects and programs for a variety of client sectors.
This is a hybrid role and can be based in any of our California offices, including Oakland, Sacramento, San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, and San Luis Obispo. Experience and expertise in California environmental compliance and ecology is required.
This position will provide office-based oversight to environmental compliance efforts involving natural resources, cultural, paleontological, hazardous materials stormwater monitoring, and air quality. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience with overseeing and implementing most or all of these disciplines and excel at verbal and written communication and organization. Projects will be complex, large-scale and varied in sector. The role will support large teams in a fast-paced work environment on all stages of a project including constraints, environmental clearance and permitting, compliance and close out. Under the guidance of the Project Manager, deputy project management tasks will also be completed, including subcontractor coordination, invoice review, progress report preparation, and tracking of schedules, hours, and budgets across the team.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Act as Environmental Compliance Coordinator/Deputy Project Manager on multiple projects; including review and interpretation of project plans and permits; schedule and staff surveyors, monitors, and technical experts; and coordinate compliance with clients, contractors, and resource agencies.
- Work closely with the project manager, clients, contractors, and internal staff on permitting strategies and compliance concerns requiring solutions, proactive planning, and adapting.
- Prepare and provide senior review of technical memorandums, environmental permitting documents, compliance forms and reports, and other technical reports.
- Support Project Manager in deputy project management functions, including team oversight, administrative tasks, budget tracking and allocation, and invoice review.
- Ability to travel out of town overnight for occasional, infrequent field visits to a project site.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Land Use Planning, or a related field.
- 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education as an Environmental Compliance Monitor and/or Coordinator on projects involving regulatory compliance, preconstruction surveys, and construction monitoring for a variety of environmental resources.
