Job Summary
The Dean of Intervention (DOI) position is a member of the leadership team at KIPP DC Inspire Academy and reports to the principal. In partnership with the principal, the DOI provides leadership and support in meeting the tiered needs of students in the areas of: behavioral development, academic development for students with gaps in their learning, attendance, and overall student well-being. The DOI will ensure that the school follows consistent practices, fosters a culture of achievement, and creates a sense of belonging for students, staff, and families. This position has a July 13th, 2026 start date.

Location and Type of Work
Fully In-Person (5 days per week onsite)
This is an in-person, school-based instructional role located at a KIPP DC campus in Washington, DC. KIPP DC schools serve students and families in person, and this position requires daily on-site presence to deliver instruction, provide student support, collaborate with teammates, and engage with families.
Deans are responsible for supporting classroom instruction during the student day (generally 8:00 am to 3:30 pm). Dean work hours are typically 7:30 am to 5:00 pm two days per week, and 7:30 am to 4:00 pm three days per week, to allow for duties, collaboration, and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
The percentages for each key responsibility are estimates, and other duties may be assigned. Flexibility and responsiveness are encouraged to accommodate organizational needs.
- Partners with the principals and school leadership team to develop and implement academic support interventions that enable students with gaps in their learning to make progress and move toward academic proficiency.
- Analyzes the effectiveness of academic interventions by supporting school leaders and teachers to consistently review data, identify trends, and revise plans as needed.
- Collaborates with regional leaders, school leaders, teachers to develop, implement and progress monitor school-wide attendance intervention systems.
- Create data analysis systems to support data collection for academic, behavioral interventions.
- Manages family outreach to communicate student progress with tiered supports, academic interventions and behavioral support plans.
- Supports the principal in the development & implementation of the school’s comprehensive improvement and priority plans.
- Leads meetings with teachers and leaders to analyze data, review and write student support plans, and provide development in other areas as needed.
- Collaborates and attends meetings with regional Student Support Team, Attendance Team, and Academic Team leaders to improve student outcomes.
- Work with the leadership team to ensure that the school uses an equity based mindset when designing and implementing interventions.
- Additional responsibilities may be given by the principal during the school year.
