POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC) of Cleveland is a consortium based at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) linking clinical and translational research efforts at seven independent institutions—CWRU, University Hospitals, Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth System, Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Northeast Ohio Medical University and University of Toledo. The goal of the $56.3 million NIH-awarded CTSC is to transform how clinical and translational research is conducted and enable the School of Medicine (with more than 40 participating faculty) and its partners to provide integrated clinical and translational research capability and educational opportunities due to complex and ever-changing responsibilities in relationship to the 6 separate institutional sites.

The Assistant Director of Research Concierge Services (ADRCS) will work closely with CTSC senior leadership and scientific program leaders to help facilitate research and eliminate unnecessary obstacles that may hinder progress. The position will assist both new and well-established investigators as they navigate the complexities of conducting basic, translational, and clinical research at CWRU and its six partner institutions. The ADRCS serves as the “front door” for researchers and community members across the CTSC’s multi-institutional collaboration, which stretches across Northern Ohio. The ADRCS will coordinate with administrators/managers across CTSC partner institutions and modules and serve as the liaison for research support for CTSC partner and collaborator institutions.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Serve as the primary navigator for clinical and translational research resources across the entirety of the CTSC program. Develop strong working relationships with Principal Investigators (PIs), department heads, and research administrators, including meeting with such leaders on a routine basis to discuss strategic goals of the CTSC Research Programs. Plan, lead, and present CTSC seminars on various research resources as well as read publications by CTSC investigators to understand their research areas. Maintain a strong understanding of and articulate the scientific Shared Resources of the CTSC partner institutions to provide rigorous advice to investigators regarding technical support for projects. Provide guidance on the coordination experiments, ensuring adequate resources, assisting with experimental design and analysis. Consult on progress of the research projects and experimental strategy. Provide input and recommendation to principal investigators regarding significant developments in research projects. (40%)

 

2. Lead the module administrators team to provide personalized expert assistance to diverse study teams. Manage the MyCTSC online membership database to build reports and gain insight into the CTSC’s investigator and community membership activities and utilization. Based on the insight gained, strategically optimize the CTSC’s programming and activities. Provide project management for the CTSC Resources and Services Core, working with CTSC leadership to optimize communication and collaboration across CTSC institutions. Develop resources, events, and opportunities to optimize connections for researchers with industry-sponsored and/or federally-funded research opportunities and assisting researchers in identifying potential collaborators. Identify and capitalize on collaboration resources for investigators, especially early-stage. (20%)

 

3. Identify barriers to optimal study design, implementation, and dissemination and collaborate with teams to develop and implement solutions to these barriers. Initiate, develop and maintain relationships with key central resources within various offices at CWRU and with CTSC partners and collaborators to facilitate clinical translational research. Work collaboratively with the CTSC’s Assistant Director of Research Programs, advise and consult with research teams on potential internal and external funding opportunities and provide resources for grant development, including referrals to the CTSC’s Assistant Director of Research Programs/Senior Scienti
