About the role

The primary role of the Data Analyst position in the Department of Medical Education is to create, monitor, analyze, and report on performance indicators used to evaluate the Medical Degree (MD) Program curriculum and other major elements of the medical education program. This role supports projects related to medical education program evaluation and continuous quality improvement required by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Assessment and Evaluation for projects related to assessment and evaluation (50%) and the Director for Compliance, Quality, and Accreditation for projects related to accreditation and compliance (50%).

  • Create and maintain longitudinal datasets and reports of key medical education program performance indicators utilizing institutional data sources and systems, including those used for student data, faculty and personnel data, facilities data, financial data, and student survey data. 
  • Create and maintain reports on key medical program performance indicators to visualize and effectively present data supporting medical education program decision-making, continuous quality improvement, and LCME accreditation compliance. 
  • Utilize programs and tools to mine extract and aggregate/ segregate data for analyses on key performance indicators
  • Collaborate with the Assessment and Evaluation Team on the design, analysis, and reporting of annual medical student surveys using various surveying tools and visual analytics platforms. 
  • Maintain, manage, analyze and report on student performance and outcomes using data from medical education program evaluation and assessment data systems.
  • Participate in and collaborate with various committees and working groups within the Department of Medical Education as they relate to this role
  • Assist with the design and implementation of educational research projects related to assessment and evaluation including defining research questions related to program effectiveness, student success, student support intervention efforts, etc.
  • Perform additional duties as required 
  • Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in data analysis, data management, and SQL reporting is required
  • Experience in higher education is preferred

 

Qualifications/Skills                                                                                                      

  • Proficiency with analysis and visualization principles, and tools such as Tableau and PowerBI required
  • Fluency in use of Microsoft office suite, including but not limited to Excel
  • Organizational and project management skills - preferably experience in project management
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as commitment to teamwork and collaboration
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to multi-task and complete work in required timelines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

 

Compensation Statement

 

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $62,571.36 - $74,250.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
