As the Lead Control Engineer at 42dot, you will spearhead the development of advanced control systems to address the most complex challenges in autonomous driving. You will lead efforts to create resilient systems by coordinating with specialists in motion planning, functional safety, hardware engineering, and other relevant fields.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of longitudinal and lateral control systems for autonomous driving
- Lead the design and implementation of lower-level controls, translating high-level commands into specific actuator controls for real-time execution of autonomous operations
- Spearhead the development of estimation algorithms for crucial vehicle parameters like road slope, vehicle speed, and slip to enhance the precision and reliability of the control system
- Collaborate closely with other engineers and teams, including those focused on motion planning, behavior planning, and mission planning, to ensure seamless integration of control systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Master's degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
- Solid understanding and hands-on experience with robust control, vehicle dynamics, and systems engineering
- Experience with disturbance observation, system identification, and state estimation techniques such as Kalman filter and Particle filter
- Demonstrated expertise in lower-level control systems, particularly for actuator control
- Proficiency in software development, with strong coding skills in languages such as C++, Python, or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in ROS/ROS2 for development and integration purposes.
- Experience with Model Predictive Control (MPC) and Nonlinear Control Systems.
- Familiarity with industry standards and safety-critical systems in automotive or aerospace domains.
- Experience in implementing adaptive, self-calibrating control algorithms to enhance system performance under changing conditions, like misaligned wheel alignment.
- Proficiency in source control management, build processes, code reviews, and testing methodologies.
- Demonstrated research work in relevant fields, showcasing technical expertise and innovation.
