About the role

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, University of Chicago Medicine, as a Nurse Program Manager, Theranostics in the Cancer / Administration department. This position requires you to work onsite 3 days per week. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

The Nurse Program Manager – Theranostics is responsible for the clinical, operational, and programmatic oversight of a theranostics service line within oncology, radiation oncology and nuclear medicine. This role coordinates multidisciplinary care for patients receiving diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, supports program growth, ensures regulatory compliance, and serves as a liaison among physicians, nursing, pharmacy, radiation safety, imaging, infusion, and administrative teams both at the main campus and at off-sites.

The Nurse Program Manager leads program operations and oversees workflows for radioligand and targeted radionuclide treatments while promoting safe, high-quality, patient-centered care across the continuum.


Essential Job Functions

•    Coordinate and oversee theranostics patient care pathways from referral through follow-up.
•    Develop standardized workflows for diagnostic imaging, treatment eligibility, scheduling,
•    infusion/administration, and post-treatment monitoring.
•    Collaborate with oncology, nuclear medicine, radiation oncology, pharmacy, and infusion teams to optimize care delivery.
•    Serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams regarding theranostic therapies and patient management.
•    Assist with the development of training materials and training for staff regarding symptom management, patient triage, and escalation of clinical concerns.
•    Develop education materials for patients and families regarding treatment expectations, radiation precautions, side effects, and follow-up care.
•    Stay current on emerging theranostic therapies and oncology treatment trends.
•    Monitor clinic and treatment capacity, scheduling efficiency, and patient throughput.
•    Partner with operational leadership to support program growth and expansion initiatives, including supporting development of marketing and outreach materials, analyzing referral data, strategic planning, and participating in outreach efforts.
•    Track program metrics including volume, outcomes, access, and patient satisfaction.
•    Participate in budgeting, staffing recommendations, and resource planning.

Required Qualifications

•    Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
•    Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license 
•    Minimum 5 years of oncology, infusion, nuclear medicine, or related clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

•    Master’s degree preferred.
•    Minimum 2 years of program coordination, leadership, or management experience preferred. 
•    Oncology nursing certification preferred (e.g., OCN).
