Lab Assistant FT 6p-6a Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Description

Performs phlebotomy procedures on both inpatients and outpatients in a timely manner. Collects blood samples from patients required for the performance of laboratory tests as requested by the physician with the least possible discomfort to the patient. The lab assistant is also responsible for supporting the lab staff with various functions. Job duties include, but are not limited to: 

· Performing phlebotomy on inpatients and outpatients 

· Ordering tests in the LIS 

· Reviewing orders and medical necessity  

· Receiving and processing specimens for the lab and send-out testing

· Processing specimens to send to reference labs 

· Collection of urine specimens for outpatients, employers, and law enforcement 

· Set-up of specified CLIA-Waived tests 

· Placing specimens on the analyzers to run

· Answering the phones 

· Other duties as assigned 

Requirements

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent required

· Successful completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program, or previous training and experience to perform phlebotomy

· One year prior experience preferred  

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: 

· Phlebotomy certification preferred
