Security Department

The Security Department for Vantage Data Centers is very hands on. In most cases, we specify, purchase, configure and maintain all networking and server hardware. We also work closely with partner VARs to learn about the latest technology changes so that we can make informed purchase decisions. We are always looking for ways to strike the best balance between technology, performance, and cost. Vantage Security Department also participates in partnering with our technical and design teams. Position Overview

This role is a US Remote based role.


The Physical Security Technology Server Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle management of all physical security server infrastructure supporting Vantage Data Centers across North America. This role serves as a technical subject matter expert for physical security server architecture, design, procurement, deployment, maintenance, and optimization.

This position works collaboratively with the Physical Security Technology team, Site Operations, Delivery, Physical Security Design, and Enterprise IT and Networking teams to ensure server environments are secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with enterprise standards and operational requirements. The role requires deep technical expertise, strong cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to operate independently within a complex, multi-site data center environment.

Key Responsibilities

Server Architecture and Lifecycle Management
• Own the full lifecycle of physical security server infrastructure, including architecture, design, procurement, deployment, maintenance, upgrades, and decommissioning.
• Define and maintain standardized server architectures supporting access control systems, video management systems, analytics platforms, and other physical security technologies.
• Ensure server environments are designed for high availability, performance, redundancy, scalability, and security.
• Develop and maintain server lifecycle plans, refresh schedules, and capacity forecasts.

Procurement and Deployment
• Define server requirements and technical specifications based on site needs, system performance requirements, and growth projections.
• Partner with Physical Security Design and Delivery teams to ensure server solutions are properly scoped and integrated into new site builds and expansions.
• Support server procurement activities, including technical evaluations, bill of materials development, and vendor coordination.
• Participate in server deployment, commissioning, and validation in coordination with internal teams and approved integrators.

Operations and Optimization
• Maintain operational stability and performance of all physical security server environments.
• Establish and follow standards, procedures, and documentation for server configuration, monitoring, patching, and maintenance.
• Identify opportunities to optimize server utilization, improve resilience, and reduce technical debt.
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex server-related issues impacting physical security systems.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with Enterprise IT and Networking teams to ensure alignment with corporate infrastructure, cybersecurity standards, and network architectures.
• Collaborate with Site Operations to ensure server environments support daily security operations and site-specific requirements.
• Partner with Physical Security Technology leadership to align server strategy with broader technology roadmaps.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to internal stakeholders on server-related design and operational decisions.

Governance and Documentation
• Develop and maintain server engineering standards, design guidelines, and technical documentation.
